For the global traveller, the true essence of a journey often lies in experiences that connect directly with local heritage and community life. Embracing this philosophy, Marriott Business Council Bali established a long-term collaboration with Undisan Tourism Village, marked by the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 21 May 2026. Signed on-site within the village’s scenic surroundings, the agreement opens the doors to one of Bangli Regency’s sustainable cultural destinations through Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of 27 hotels and resorts across the island. The initiative invites international visitors to step beyond traditional resort boundaries, introducing an immersive way to experience a community-based tourism village in Bali.

Situated in the Bangli Regency, Undisan Tourism Village is known for its strong commitment to Tri Hita Karana – the traditional Balinese philosophy emphasising harmony between people, nature, and spirituality. Through curated programmes such as A Journey into Three Harmonies, visitors are invited to experience the island’s traditions and daily life in a responsible way.

“At Marriott, we believe travel is most meaningful when it connects you to the things you’re truly passionate about wherever in the world you are. Our collaboration with Undisan Tourism Village brings that belief to life,” explains Sander Looijen, area general manager for participating Marriott Bonvoy Hotels and Resorts in Bali. He notes that the partnership “opens the door to a side of Bali that is deeply authentic and genuinely rooted in local culture,” offering members an experience that goes far beyond a standard hotel stay, highlighting the distinct appeal of this tourism village in Bali.

The partnership centres on a mutual sharing of hospitality skills and cultural heritage. Marriott Business Council Bali will promote the destination throughout its properties across the island using concierge recommendations, internal channels, and direct guest engagement. The council will also host regular workshops for the community to share insights on service standards, helping to nurture local skills while fully preserving the village’s cultural authenticity. In return, the hosts will provide dedicated cultural programmes, guided activities, and transport, allowing travellers to connect seamlessly with the rhythm of this traditional tourism village in Bali.

This cooperative relationship ensures that local livelihoods are supported directly through sustainable travel practices. “This collaboration is a key moment for Undisan Village. It means our community can share what makes this place truly special with travellers from around the world, while building a sustainable livelihood doing so,” states I Putu Winastra, pioneer of Undisan Tourism Village.
Aligned with Marriott International’s global Serve 360 commitments towards sustainability, this partnership demonstrates how hospitality networks can enrich a rural tourism village in Bali.
