Jumeirah Bali Marks World Sea Turtle Day 2026 with Annual Conservation Programme

Jumeirah Bali marked World Sea Turtle Day 2026 with the return of its annual Sea Turtle Release, continuing a partnership with Eco Tourism Bali that has now entered its third consecutive year. Held on 16 June, the initiative forms part of Jumeirah’s wider global celebration of World Sea Turtle Day while reflecting a commitment to conservation of the marine environments that shape many of its destinations.

The resort gives back to the marine ecosystem that shapes its addresses

Set against the coastline of Dreamland Beach, the programme brought together guests and local partners for an experience centred on learning and participation. The morning began with an educational session led by the Founder of Eco Tourism Bali, offering insight into Bali’s coastal ecosystem and the challenges facing marine wildlife. Discussions around sea turtle conservation highlighted the importance of protecting nesting habitats and preserving the delicate balance of the island’s shoreline, providing guests with a deeper understanding of the conservation efforts taking place beyond the resort.

The experience then moved from conversation to action as participants walked to the beach to release 60 newly hatched turtles into the ocean. More than a symbolic gesture, the activity offered a firsthand look at how sea turtle conservation relies on collective stewardship, from environmental education to community involvement. Following the release, guests returned to Maja Sunset Lounge for refreshments and further discussions on marine biodiversity and responsible tourism.

The 2026 edition builds on two years of collaboration between Jumeirah Bali and Eco Tourism Bali. In 2024, the partnership commemorated World Sea Turtle Day with the release of 50 hatchlings at Dreamland Beach. A year later, the initiative continued with the release of more than 30 Olive Ridley hatchlings alongside an educational programme attended by guests and media partners. Together, these annual activities have established a meaningful platform for sea turtle conservation, encouraging visitors to engage with Bali’s natural heritage in a thoughtful and memorable way.

The effort is also part of Jumeirah’s broader commitment to marine stewardship across its properties

Beyond Bali, Jumeirah properties across the globe marked the occasion through marine-focused initiatives ranging from coral planting workshops in the Maldives to conservation-led activities for younger guests in Oman. These efforts reflect the brand’s broader approach to destination stewardship, with sea turtle conservation forming part of a wider commitment to protecting coastal ecosystems. At Jumeirah Bali, that commitment continues to take shape through experiences that connect guests with the island’s environment while supporting conservation efforts that can have a lasting impact on future generations.
