National French Fries Day, a day where the humble comfort food is celebrated around the world, falls on 13 July every year. Needless to say, it’s the perfect reason to put diet plans on pause and indulge in the popular snack. Here are our top picks on where to get your potato fix.

Situated at level 33 of Courtyard by Marriott, Urbana Rooftop Bar, a cosily spaced hangout in Novena district, flaunts breathtaking panoramic views of Singapore’s cityscape. Besides the classic Truffle Cheese fries, there’s the fiery Tom Yum Chicken, where thick-cut fries are coated with tom yum flavoured chicken that has been infused with lime and lemongrass. Recently opened by the folks from PS Cafe, Jypsy offers a modern take on traditional Japanese fare. Decorated in restful shades of blue and light wood tones, it’s easy to feel right at home at this café. Settle down and enjoy their Nest of Fries ($11), which exudes a strong aroma and flavour of fragrant white truffle oil, and makes the perfect side to light mains like Crispy Shrimp ($16).
