For their Mother’s Day brunch on 12 May, mum can tuck into hearty and fortifying Chinese dishes like Black Chicken Soup with Conpoy, and Drunken River Prawns in Chinese Herbal Soup and Bourbon, while other family members feast on a delectable spread of seafood on ice and grilled delights. $68 per adult; $88 with alcohol.

Award-winning restaurant Min Jiang at Goodwood Park Hotel has been the go-to spot for fine Chinese cuisine since 1982. With a luxurious, warmly lit setting and elegant Oriental-style furnishings, your mum will feel right at home here. Food-wise, she can enjoy classic Cantonese and Sichuan signatures over an eight-course set lunch ($398 for six persons, $628 for 10) or dinner ($528 for six persons, $848 for 10). Highlights include Braised Australian 10-head Abalone, Deep-Fried Sea Perch with Spicy Lime Sauce, and Stuffed Fish Maw with Seasonal Greens. Available on 11 and 12 May.

To cater for families with hard-to-match schedules, executive chef Nicky Ng has created a five-course set menu ($88/person) that will be available throughout the month of May at modern Cantonese restaurant, Mitzo. Pamper mum with a trio of dim sum appetisers followed by exquisite offerings like Double-Boiled Fish Maw in Chicken Consommé and Lobster topped with Preserved Red Yeast & Garlic. Head bartender Azlam Kadir also contributes a Mother’s Day cocktail; try The Matriach ($18), a revitalising concoction of rum, sparkling rosé and plum bitters. The restaurant’s weekend brunch on 11 and 12 May offers great value ($78 per person). Enjoy unlimited servings of over 50 different kinds of dim sum, soups, and Cantonese dishes like Steamed Bamboo Clam with Minced Pork Sauce, Cheese Baked Lobster with Creamy Seaweed Sauce and Braised Abalone with Egg Tofu in Carrot Broth.

Li Bai will offer a six-course lunch and dinner menu (from $368 for four persons) on 11 and 12 May. Mum will be impressed by the timeless interior as well as the jade and ivory tableware while savouring dishes like Mini Bird’s Nest Buddha Jumps over the Wall and Steamed Live Marble Goby with XO Chili Sauce.

Executive chef Jake Kowalewski introduces produce-driven flavours in the form of Cone Bay Barramundi with New Zealand Clams, Confit Tomato and Kombu Emulsion, and Cape Grim Tenderloin with King Oyster Mushroom, Truffle and Mushroom Parfait.

Start with Jumbo Crab and Oscietra Caviar paired with a Domaine François Pinon Vouvray Brut, continue with the Angel Hair Pasta & Olive Oil Caviar with Black Truffle and Porcini with Piper Heidsieck Rosé Sauvage, and finish with a Milk Chocolate Chantilly and a glass of Scanavino Moscato d’Asti.

Online premium seafood grocer OosterBay has expanded with a brick and mortar outlet at The Plaza. Uni Gallery offers a seven-course Pamper your Mum menu ($88) featuring the best of their air-flown sashimi and ocean gems, sourced globally from Japan, Canada and the U.S. Hokkaido snow crab, Siberian caviar and uni are some of the treats you can expect on the menu, alongside hot dishes such as Grilled Hamachi Collar and Innaniwa Udon. The special menu is available till 13 May.
