, The race is on

With less than a month away to the annual Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, Royal Plaza on Scotts gears up for some racing action with its construction of the world's largest macaron race car.

Measuring over 4.40 metres long, 1.90 metres wide and 1.30 metres tall, the life-sized vehicle is made up of 10, 461 macarons and required four litres of water, 600 egg whites and 12.5 kg of ground almond and icing sugar to build.

Created by executive chef, Abraham Tan, a team of five chefs and two engineering technicians, along with contributions from children at Community Chest Singapore’s Metta School, the confection car will be displayed at the lobby from now till 25 September.

Here's how you can join in the buzz of the motor racing season with Royal Plaza on Scotts:

1) Purchase scale-model chocolate race cars at S$29 each, or assorted macarons at Gourmet Carousel from now till 25 September 2011. S$5 proceeds from the sale of each scale-model chocolate race car and 10 percent of the proceeds from the sale of macarons will be donated to Community Chest.

2) Purchase a $5 lucky draw ticket to take part in a charity drive for Metta School. A winner will be picked on 26 September for the grand prize of a two-nights eekend stay in an Executive Suite inclusive of breakfast for two worth $1360. The first runner up wins a dinner voucher worth $300 and the second runner up wins a high tea voucher worth $152, to dine at international buffet restaurant, Carousel.

3)  A selection of motor racing themed cocktails such as Flying Lap, Ground Effect and Smoking Wheels will be served at Royal Plaza on Scott's Heat ultralounge at $18++ from now till 25 September 2011.
