Six must-visit restaurants for Mother’s Day 2018

As Mother’s Day approaches, score major brownie points with the main woman of your life with these fantastic places, from a modern Spanish spot, a rustic French restaurant to an opulent Art Deco Gin bar.

COMO Cuisine
Amidst the beautiful surroundings of Dempsey Hill lies the acclaimed COMO Cuisine, which will be introducing a five-course brunch specially for Mother’s Day. Thoughtfully designed by executive chef Timothy de Souza, the menu is lighter on the flavours. Start with the Dips & Crackers (including flax seed, hummus and avocado), followed by moreish Caviar Doughnuts with yuzu kosho, cucumber and avocado, and then Scotch Egg. For the main course, choose from the restaurant’s signature Toast Royal with smoked trout, poached egg and heirloom tomato, or the Chicken Cutlet; before diving into dessert – your choice of either Strawberries and Cream soft serve or the Lemon Verbena Jelly. $60/person. A rustic French restaurant that focuses on traditional French fare, Atout will please even the most finicky of palates. For starters, tuck into either the Lobster Bisque with Chicken Dumpling, six fresh French Oysters or the Scottish Salmon and Hokkaido Scallop Tartare. For mains, dive into their famed Duck Leg Confit served with wilted cabbage topped with lardon and drizzled with blueberry jus. Enjoy front row seats to head chef Carlo Montobbio’s culinary performance with his specially curated seven-course lunch menu for mum, which includes Spanish and Catalan favourites like Lobster and Red Snapper Paella cooked with sugar snap peas, saffron aioli and roasted bell peppers. If a spot of tea and fresh scones is what mom loves, afternoon tea at Atlas is the place to go. This gorgeous Art Deco bar and restaurant is the perfect place to feel like you’re both in The Great Gatsby, living the high life. Indulge in decadent bites like mock truffle ravioli with gorgonzola cheese, ATLAS croque monsieur, crab croquette and sweet treats like madeleines, canelés, while their French-style scones are served with whipped mascarpone cream and homemade strawberry and rose jam. $56/person for the Prestige Selection, $52/person for the ATLAS Selection. Le Binchotan
Cosy up and spoil the family matriarch at this intimate French-Japanese restaurant. For the five-course dinner, you can expect a decadent shot of uni, caviar, corn, shoyu pearls and chives, and Binchotan Grilled Wagyu served with burnt leek, shoyu butter and tarragon. $110/person. 115 Amoy Street. The White Rabbit
Brunch-loving moms can now roll straight out of bed into a whimsical Sunday of an all-you-can-eat modern European spread at The White Rabbit. The refurbished Ebenezer Chapel is one of the island’s most popular dining venues and it’s not hard to see why. Highlights include the Craving station, where you can tuck into the scrumptious Shorthorn Côte de Boeuf, plus the Seafood Bar with fresh Maine Lobsters and Sakoshi oysters. Must-tries are the Aged Magret Duck Breast cooked with orange sanshō sauce, and served with butternut and passion fruit puree, and the classic Italian Arancini. There’s also something for the little ones – Tomato and Meatballs Conchiglie, Poached Barramundi and Lemon Butter, and Rosti & Honey-baked Ham.
