Every stay across the festive period contributes to a six-month Creative Industry Education programme run by Jnana Heritage Reimagined, a cultural enterprise that works with Sekaa Teruna Teruni, the village youth organisations found across Bali, to keep traditional arts economically viable for the generation coming up behind them. The current cohort of artisans is responsible for the handcrafted pieces woven through the festive experience this year, and their work will continue well after the decorations come down, with the group completing the programme and showcasing their skills in June 2027.

At Jimbaran Bay, the ocean sets the tempo. Bamboo and woven palm installations trace the line between architecture and craft, sunset ceremonies mark the close of each day, and beachside gatherings are lit by firelight rather than string lights. It is a coastal, outward-facing kind of festivity, built around the horizon.
At Sayan, the mood turns inward, towards the Ayung River and the jungle that closes in around it. Guests arrive by torchlight, and evenings often carry the sound of riverside gamelan performances drifting up from the water. Where Jimbaran Bay opens out to sea, Sayan folds guests into the valley.
Both resorts treat culture as something to take part in rather than simply watch. Across the festive period, guests can learn Kamasan painting, an intricate narrative style native to the village of the same name, try their hand at traditional shadow puppet craft, or shape Balinese clay under the guidance of resident artisans, hearing the stories behind each technique as they go. In the evenings, that participation gives way to performance, among them the Wayang Kulit Night at Sayan, a shadow puppet theatre retelling drawn from the Balinese Hindu Ramayana.
Dining With a Sense of Occasion
Festive dining across the two resorts reflects the distinct character of each resort. At Sayan, Riverside hosts a Nusantara Night Dinner built around live music and Indonesian flavours, a tropical-leaning Jungle Jingle Brunch, and a six-course dinner to see in the New Year. At Jimbaran Bay, Sundara turns its attention to the sea with sunset seafood nights alongside festive buffets, while TELU offers tastings of Balinese spirits and New Year feasts served from live cooking stations.
Workshops, Rituals and a Slower Kind of Wellness
Beyond the table, the festive calendar leans heavily on hands-on learning. Cultural Ambassador Ibu Atik leads sessions in sacred Balinese calligraphy and gebogan-making, the towering fruit offerings seen at temple ceremonies, alongside workshops in traditional Balinese dance. At Jimbaran Bay, guests can also take part in a Sila Giri Kesarah Temple Experience with the resort’s priest, while both properties host performances ranging from a local pop quintet to Legong dance.
Wellness follows a similarly grounded sense of place. Sayan’s newly reimagined Sacred River Spa offers the Restu Bumi cleansing ritual, Sacred Naps, and a New Year Meaningful Manifestation Meditation timed to the turn of the year. At Jimbaran Bay, Healing Village Spa pairs a cooling crystal body treatment and sunset meditation with visiting practitioners Rashdy “Healing Hands” Ahmad and astrologer Debbie Frank.
Families are not an afterthought either. Between kids’ parties, movie nights, clay play, mocktail-making, animal shows and a visit from Santa, younger guests are well catered for throughout the season, alongside the cultural activities open to the whole family.
