Premium tequila label Loca Loka officially marked its Indonesian debut with a vibrant launch celebration at Origen Mexican Restaurant in Bali. The arrival signals another milestone for the globally expanding 100% agave tequila brand, which continues to carve out a distinctive space within the luxury spirits scene through a blend of Mexican heritage, contemporary storytelling, and cross-cultural identity.

Founded by Indian actor and entrepreneur Rana Daggubati, composer Anirudh Ravichander, and entrepreneur Sree Harsha Vadlamudi, Loca Loka enters Indonesia at a moment when the country’s premium cocktail culture is rapidly evolving. From intimate speakeasies in Jakarta to beachside lounges in Seminyak, discerning consumers are increasingly drawn to spirits that offer authenticity, provenance, and narrative depth alongside refined flavour profiles.
Held at Origen, the Loca Loka tequila launch in Bali unfolded less like a conventional product introduction and more like a spirited cultural gathering. Guests moved through a series of immersive experiences – from hand-painted cantaritos and playful piñata moments to caricature-style raspado stations – while sipping signature tequila cocktails and neat pours as sunset transitioned into an energetic late-night atmosphere. Music drifted through the venue as the celebration embraced the convivial spirit deeply associated with tequila culture.

At the centre of the evening was a curated cocktail presentation led by Rajiv Ghumman, Global Business Head of Loca Loka, who explored the growing global appreciation for premium tequila through contemporary mixology. Emphasising the brand’s deliberate approach to expansion, Ghumman described Indonesia not simply as a market entry, but as a meaningful collaboration with hospitality professionals who value craftsmanship and storytelling over scale.
Produced in the highlands of Jalisco under the guidance of third-generation master distiller Willy Bañuelos Ramírez, Loca Loka introduces Indonesian audiences to two artisanal expressions: Blanco and Reposado. Both variants have already gained international recognition across major spirits competitions, including the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, New York International Spirits Competition, and the London Spirits Competition, where Reposado earned Gold and Blanco received Silver earlier this year.

Throughout the evening, Willy Bañuelos Ramírez guided guests in Bali through the nuances of agave cultivation and tequila production, sharing insights into the patience and precision behind each bottle of Loca Loka tequila. From agave plants matured over six to eight years to slow roasting in traditional brick ovens and careful oak aging, the production philosophy remains rooted in preserving the honest complexity of highland tequila without additives or shortcuts.
The brand’s identity itself reflects this fusion of cultures. Loca, the Spanish word for crazy, merges with loka, the Sanskrit term for world, forming a name that embodies both spirited energy and global perspective. Traditional tahona milling, natural fermentation, and maturation in French and American oak further reinforce the brand’s dedication to old-world tequila craftsmanship interpreted through a contemporary lens.

Indonesia joins a growing list of international markets for Loca Loka, following launches across the United States, Singapore, the Philippines, and India. The brand is also preparing for further expansion into the UK, UAE, Australia, and Europe throughout 2026, supported by a USD $12.5 million Series A investment secured from a Singapore-based family office last year.
As Bali continues to position itself as one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic hospitality destinations, the arrival of Loca Loka tequila reflects a broader shift in the region’s drinking culture – one increasingly shaped by provenance-driven spirits, elevated cocktail programmes, and experiences that connect craftsmanship with storytelling.
