The Ritz-Carlton Maldives’ Blue Prescription, which fuses restorative wellness rituals and wholesome cuisine, invites guests to slow down, tune in, and rediscover balance through the calming power of blue.

When your sleek yacht cruises from the airport to The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, you are enveloped by crystalline waters in every direction. As you draw closer to the island, your heart rate slows (decidedly in a good way). Warm greetings and friendly smiles abound as the resort’s team welcome you at the arrival pontoon. It doesn’t take long to notice how the ocean’s shades of blue shift from dawn to noon to dusk – each moment naturally nudging your mood toward calm.

For guests staying in the iconic Ocean Pool Villas, lingering over these changing hues becomes part of the therapy. These villas are complete with private decks and plunge pools hovering over the sea. The same sense of immersion extends to the Beach Pool Villas, where the shoreline and ocean are just steps away.
There’s a reason the resort’s Blue Prescription programme focuses on this simple premise (one backed by scientific research) that water calms and restores. More specifically, it guides guests toward the “blue mind”. This is a state associated with elevated mood, clearer focus, and heightened creativity. In 2025, the programme expanded with the Deep Blue Boost, elevating guest experience with a Masters of Crafts and Visiting Heroes line-up featuring experts in wellness, adventure and environment. The resort was also part of the Luxury Group by Marriott International’s Luxury Wellbeing Series 2025, focused on three essential wellness pillars: Sleep, Nutrition, Physical & Mental Well-being.

Wellness, Tailored to You
After checking in, guests enrolled in the Blue Prescription programme are personally welcomed by executive chef Pedro Samper and director of spa and wellness Walailuck (Gift) Kongsawat for tailored nutrition guidance.
“Personalisation sits at the core of the Blue Prescription experience. Whenever possible, I meet guests at the beginning of their journey to understand their dietary preferences, wellness goals, allergies, and lifestyle needs. This allows us to shape a bespoke culinary experience that supports individual wellbeing from the very first meal,” says Chef Pedro.
He continues: “Creating wellness focused menus is always a collaborative effort. I work closely with Gift and the wellness team to ensure nutritional intention is thoughtfully translated into culinary expression. We focus on balance through clean ingredients, gentle cooking techniques, and mindful portions, while making sure each dish remains refined, flavourful, and emotionally satisfying.” To him, wellness should never feel restrictive. It should feel joyful, nourishing, and indulgent in its own way.

The menus are a direct reflection of the programme’s philosophy. They evolve based on the length of stay, individual wellness objectives, and ongoing guest feedback. “Whether a guest joins us for a few days or several weeks, the culinary journey adapts to support their progression, whether that focus is detoxification, restoration, or long term vitality,” adds the chef.
From Floating Breakfasts to Barefoot Lunches
For those who prefer a quiet morning in-villa, breakfast arrives in the form of a leisurely floating spread. Think wholesome dishes such as buckwheat and koppe fai porridge, Maldivian smoked tuna with coconut milk, and fluffy egg white omelette with kale, baby spinach, and asparagus cream as well as an açaí bowl. This is balanced with some sweet indulgence like croissants and cinnamon rolls, alongside pancakes served with fresh berries and honey.

There’s the option of a picnic breakfast too. Go for an early bike ride around the island, then stop by the lush Mystique Garden overlooking the waters. Here, the culinary team sets up a superb spread of avocado toast, coconut yoghurt, charcuterie and cheese platter, shakshouka, and Italian waffles.

Alternatively, start your day at La Locanda, which offers overwater seating and alfresco dining with glittering ocean views. Breakfast features a huge range of global selections and interactive live stations. Come lunchtime, the restaurant shifts to Italian fare, best enjoyed with a glass of wine, if you must.

Another relaxed lunch option is the Beach Shack. A casual spot to dine barefoot with sand in between your toes. Mediterranean dishes from vibrant salads to grilled seafood showcase fresh flavours. For larger groups, the Spanish seafood fideuà, prepared in a generous pan, is a must.
Sunset Sips and Local Seafood
As the day eases into evening, the oceanfront EAU Bar – with its iconic round infinity pool – becomes the perfect gathering point. The menu leans towards light, Japanese-inspired cuisine, with a focus on sustainable ingredients.

Standouts include smoked tuna tataki comprising sesame-crusted Maldivian yellowfin tuna enlivened with wasabi apple ponzu, sevruga caviar and mizuna salad. Other local fish creations include snapper maki with chilli layu mayonnaise, avocado, and chukka wakame, as well as Maldivian sashimi moriawase featuring tuna, snapper, and bonito. Mains-wise, freshly grilled Maldivian lobster is partnered with miso garlic cream, shimeji mushrooms, lotus root, and togarashi.

Chef Pedro explains how local produce are incorporated into the menus. “We are fortunate to work with some of the purest ingredients available. Local reef fish, tuna, lobster, octopus, coconut, pandan, moringa, tropical fruits, and kanamadhu almonds, also known as Maldivian sea almonds, are all highly nutritious and feature prominently in our menus. These ingredients are treated with great respect and are often lightly grilled, cured, steamed, or served raw to preserve their nutritional value while highlighting their natural freshness and flavour.”

A Moonlit Dinner
For a truly memorable evening, guests can request for a private Chakra Dinner experience, set under the moonlight within one of the resort’s expansive villas.

Gift who hosts the unique dinner shares, “the Chakra Dinner combines sound healing with shared intention to create an experience that nourishes both the physical body and the energetic system. The process focuses on in depth sound and frequency work centred around the Solar Plexus chakra, which governs personal power, digestion, confidence, and inner balance. From there, both the culinary and wellness perspectives are aligned to ensure that every element of the evening worked harmoniously together.”
The culinary team prepares creations such as beetroot mille-feuille with crispy leek and ginger-infused balsamic, followed by cantaloupe and mint gazpacho with pickled kohlrabi. For mains, expect ultra-satisfying sandalwood-smoked corn-fed baby yellow chicken breast with coriander-spiced polenta, butternut squash purée, and orange sauce. This is followed by Maldivian octopus with butterfly pea flower and braised purple cabbage.

Reflecting on the experience, Pedro says, “The Chakra Dinner is a collaboration between culinary and wellness. Gift and I explored how colours, ingredients, and flavours correspond with each of the seven chakras. Each course is designed not only to nourish the body but also to support emotional and energetic balance. What makes this experience truly unique is its multi-sensory approach. Guests are invited to connect with food on a deeper level through intention, storytelling, and mindful dining.”
Ultimately, your wellness journey here is anchored in nourishing meals designed to restore not just the body, but the joy of eating well. The most lasting luxury is perhaps the unhurried clarity that lingers long after the blue fades from view.

Note: The resort’s Blue Prescription package includes a minimum four-night stay in an Ocean Pool Villa, signature spa treatment using Bamford’s organic products, private coral regeneration experience, snorkel or dive with naturalist, sunset cruise by yacht and many more activities.
