Celebrating Stories & Embracing Destiny at Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali

At Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali, the art of storytelling finds a new home through Katha Bercerita, an intimate literary gathering designed to slow the pace and deepen conversation. Taking place on Friday, 6 March 2026, from 3pm to 5pm, the session unfolds at the resort’s Katha Lobby Lounge – a space whose very name, Katha, meaning story, feels both intentional and poetic. Here, the usual format of a formal book discussion gives way to something more fluid: an open dialogue where reflection, exchange and shared experience are just as important as the written page.

The afternoon will feature Valiant Budi, widely known as Vabyo, the author behind the novel Tukar Takdir. Known for his contemplative, emotionally grounded narratives, Vabyo has cultivated a loyal readership drawn to his exploration of life’s turning points – the quiet decisions and unexpected detours that shape destiny.

His work gained wider recognition when Tukar Takdir was adapted into a film starring Nicholas Saputra, marking a pivotal evolution from page to screen. Yet at its heart, the story remains deeply personal. During Katha Bercerita, Vabyo is expected to reflect on the creative process behind the novel, the lived experiences that informed it, and the delicate challenge of translating intimate emotions into narratives that resonate universally – particularly with young readers navigating change and self-discovery.

Moderated by Gustra Adnyana, whose conversational style favours warmth over rigidity, the session invites participation rather than passive listening. Guests are encouraged to share perspectives, ask questions and engage with the ideas that surface – allowing the discussion to unfold organically, much like the stories themselves.

Beyond the talk, attendees will have the opportunity to meet Vabyo during a special book-signing session, bringing home a personally signed copy of Tukar Takdir. It is a small but meaningful gesture, extending the dialogue beyond the stage and into something more personal.

Adding a touch of anticipation to the afternoon, five Gramedia bestselling books and a Mövenpick Bali food and beverage voucher valued at Rp1,000,000 will be awarded to selected participants. With attendance limited to just 40 registrants, the gathering promises an atmosphere that is both intimate and community-driven.

Through initiatives like Katha Bercerita, Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali continues to expand its role beyond traditional hospitality. Positioned near several campuses, the resort envisions Jimbaran as an emerging hub for literacy and creative exchange – a welcoming enclave where students, book enthusiasts and curious minds converge.
