The windswept clifftop haven of Uluwatu takes a firmer step towards a greener future and deeper community engagement with the appointment of a new key role for the resort’s sustainable endeavour. Six Senses Uluwatu, renowned for the nature-led tranquillity reflected in both its setting and ethos, has named Armand Thieblemont as its director of sustainability, effective from June 2025. His arrival marks a continued commitment to the resort’s eco-conscious legacy, paving the way for new and greener chapters.

Not only leading the Uluwatu property as director, Armand Thieblemont also serves as regional sustainability director, overseeing sustainability strategy and operations across Six Senses properties in Bali. Based at Six Senses Uluwatu, he takes on a dual role to ensure meaningful progress onsite and throughout the Six Senses sister properties on the island.
Born in France, director Thieblemont brings with him a wealth of experience and leadership honed across Asia, giving him a broad and nuanced global perspective. Raised close to nature on his grandparents’ farm, his connection to the environment began early, but it was during a visit to Nusa Penida that his true environmental awakening took root.

As a passionate diver and environmentalist, Thieblemont once witnessed a sobering sight: majestic manta rays gliding through a sea clouded with plastic, unknowingly ingesting kilos of waste. That moment in Nusa Penida became a turning point that solidified his resolve to drive meaningful change within the hospitality industry and advocate for a more sustainable relationship with nature.
Since that defining moment, Thieblemont has continued to hone his leadership in sustainability, a journey that led him to join Six Senses Zighy Bay in 2022 as director of sustainability. He played a key role in driving environmental initiatives and strengthening community engagement there.

His expertise also contributed to the successful opening of Six Senses Kyoto and the reopening of Six Senses Shaharut, further embedding sustainable practices into each property. With a leadership style rooted in empathy and purpose, he remains committed to advancing the brand’s mission of regenerative hospitality and promoting purposeful travel.
As the newly appointed director of sustainability at Six Senses Uluwatu, Thieblemont will oversee the resort’s environmental stewardship, drive sustainability innovations, and lead its community outreach initiatives. Guided by his mission, he and the team aim to strengthen the resort’s long-standing commitment to sustainability while cultivating a lasting impact across Bali and beyond.
