Avoid the predictable addresses and check into these characterful accommodations for a vacation that is just as satisfying.

, It’s all in the decor

Unlike the masculine atmosphere of Hotel Particulier, here is another hotel in Paris with a different kind of eccentricity. Instead of dark chocolate tones, you will be greeted by perfectly mismatched prints and patterns at the brightly-clad Hotel Thoumieux. Designed by India Mahdavi, the hotel makes use of various shapes, curves and colours to create a kitschy environment. The hotel is plastered with wallpapers that give off an art deco feel. Quirky details include odd shaped, gold door handles and a hanging merci sign, while bathrooms are furnished in marble with white quilted walls. Rates from €200/S$335. 79 rue Saint-dominique, 75007 Paris. Visit http://www.thoumieux.fr for more information.
