TITILARAN: An Ode to Indonesia’s Art Legacy at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta

Entering its 63rd anniversary, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta reaffirms its standing as a beacon of Indonesia’s artistic and cultural heritage with the launch of the TITILARAN art exhibition. Envisioned as more than a mere building but a national journal of progress and unity under the direction of the country’s first President, Ir. Soekarno, the urban hotel embodies Indonesia’s development through a rich tapestry of art and architecture. Marking this milestone, the hotel brings together cross-generational artworks in one space where tradition meets modernity.

The TITILARAN art exhibition is curated by the esteemed art figure Rizki A. Zaelani, whose insightful and masterful approach animates the hotel’s lobby through a thoughtful selection of artworks in varied forms. Zaelani brings the core theme of TITILARAN to life by placing works from revered art masters alongside those of emerging talents, creating a dialogue that spans generations and honours a continuum of creative legacy. With a nationally and internationally recognised portfolio, the hotel entrusts him as the guiding figure in this immersive artistic journey.

As guests enter the lobby, the space comes alive with striking installations, highlighting collaborative works between celebrated art gurus and rising stars. Among them is Sunarkiv, a three-metre piece conceived by Sunaryo and Arkiv Vilmansa, offering a new dimension of the iconic Mickiv figure, infused with Sunaryo’s pilgrimage experience at the Ka’bah. Familial ties take centre stage in the works of Haryadi Suadi and Radi Arwinda, as well as Tisna Sanjaya and Etza Meisyara, while Andre Tanama and Landha Bellamora pay homage to womanhood through their creation.
