In the lush courtyard of Kemiri Restaurant at COMO Uma Ubud, where koi-filled ponds glisten and frangipanis frame the air with soft fragrance, a quiet celebration of hope and humanity will take place on 8 August 2025, from 4PM to 8PM. The tranquil wellness retreat that is tucked into Ubud’s jungle edge, presents A Night of Giving Smiles – a charity dinner held in honour of Yayasan Senyum Bali’s 20th anniversary.
Since its founding in 2005, Yayasan Senyum Bali has transformed thousands of lives across Bali and Eastern Indonesia, offering free surgeries and medical care to children and individuals with craniofacial conditions such as cleft lip and palate. This landmark occasion not only marks two decades of dedication – it’s a renewed call to action.

The evening invites guests to experience more than a meal – it’s a gathering of community, culture, and compassion. Funds raised from the event will directly support the foundation’s surgical and patient care programs, helping expand its reach to more remote and underserved areas.
Kemiri’s culinary team at COMO Uma Ubud has curated a thoughtful family-style dinner inspired by regional Indonesian flavours, each dish a reflection of local heritage. Expect Ayam Taliwang, a twice-cooked chicken dish perfumed with turmeric and lemongrass; braised grouper in a light curry with marrow squash and green chilli; urab pakis, a refreshing fern tip salad with roasted coconut; and a nostalgic jackfruit and ginger pudding drizzled with palm syrup and ripe papaya. Each course is paired with a welcome cocktail and a glass of wine from Hatten Wines, who proudly support the evening.

Beyond the feast, the evening will unfold with a fashion presentation spotlighting local designers, a raffle draw, and a silent auction – offering guests both entertainment and meaningful ways to give. With limited seats available, each ticket purchased (priced at IDR 1,500,000++) brings direct impact: funding essential surgeries that allow children to live without pain or stigma.

“When we began in 2005, it was with the dream that no child should have to live in pain or shame because of something that can be treated,” says Mary Northmore, Founder of Yayasan Senyum Bali. “After 20 years, we are proud of how far we’ve come – but there is still so much more to do. This dinner is not only a celebration, it is a continuation of hope.”
Echoing the sentiment, Gede Suteja, Cluster General Manager of COMO Uma Ubud and COMO Shambhala Estate, shares, “We believe in wellness beyond the physical – wellness that uplifts individuals and communities. Hosting this event with Yayasan Senyum Bali reflects our shared values and commitment to making a tangible difference.”
