Szechuan Court, Fairmont Singapore

, Mooncake flavours to please every palate

Baked favourites from Szechuan Court, Fairmont Singapore.

Crafted by chef Mandy Yeo from Szechuan Court, Fairmont Singapore’s mini snowskin mooncakes are presented in adorable peach shapes, complete with surprises in the centre. The new flavours are Caramel Sea Salt and Pu Er with Chia Seed, the former rich and textured with a Malteser-like salted caramel ball in the centre, while the Pu Er is more subtle with a chocolate truffle centre. You can get these flavours separately or in an Assorted Mini Snowskin Mooncakes ($76 for eight) together with Champagne Truffle with Chocolate Ganache and Rum & Raisin Chocolate Truffle. They’ve also introduced Traditional Mixed Nuts baked mooncakes ($72 for four), which is fully loaded with almonds, walnuts, pine nuts and sunflower and melon seeds. Place orders online.
Man Fu Yuan, InterContinental Singapore
, Mooncake flavours to please every palate
Snowskin flavours from InterContinental Singapore.
Peranakan dessert flavours are featured, with Man Fu Yuan’s rose motif encapsulating large, plump snowskin creations. Presented in a pastel tingkat (tiffin carrier), with designs further inspired by the hotel’s architectural elements, each tier holds a different flavour mooncake. Durian Pengat with a jammy filling is identified with a bright blue skin, tinted with blue pea flower, while Pulut Hitam has added textures from candied longans and coconut. The Pandan and Coconut Kaya tasted like the real thing as it has kaya in the centre, but it was the Chendol that stole the show for us – beautifully textured with chunky red bean adding bite and just enough pandan jelly and coconut to feel like the real thing. The thick skins don’t deal well with warm weather, so it’s best to store and eat these right out of the freezer for maximum enjoyment. $88 for box of 4, with 30% early bird discount till 26 August. Janice Wong
, Mooncake flavours to please every palate

They comprise Cheng Tng Yam and Red Date, with just the right amount of sweetness; Red Bean Tea that’s richly packed with red bean; Peanut taking its cue from peanut pancakes; and Lychee Rose with a bandung inspiration. The skins are medium in thickness, and add to the enjoyment of the mooncakes. $78 per box of 8, early bird price of $50.70 till 30 August. They’ve also teamed up with fine flower boutique Fiore Dorato to offer the Floral Snow Skin mooncakes with an exquisite blooms box, comprising Saponaria, David Austin, Craspedia and Astrantia flowers at $138.
