Marriott International and SOS Indonesia double down on food waste management, with its food truck 'Sadeva' operating in Nusa Dua and Jimbaran areas.

Marriott International continues its endless effort to push toward its 2025 Sustainability and Social Impact Goals with the launching of its newest food truck, Sadeva. Through Marriott Business Council Indonesia, the luxury hospitality industry leader once again supports Scholars of Sustenance (SOS) Indonesia with a food truck to distribute surplus food to the communities in need and reduce food waste simultaneously.

The council members, which comprise Marriott’s hotels and resorts in Indonesia, joined forces with SOS Indonesia to unveil the new food truck at a special event held at Bali International Convention Centre, The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, on 16 April 2024. Both parties gathered around to witness a significant step in the brand’s sustainability efforts, with Sadeva as the second food truck to be sponsored by Marriott International.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with SOS Indonesia and contribute to addressing both food waste and challenges faced by some communities in Bali. ‘Sadeva’ represents Marriott International’s ongoing commitment to creating positive change and fostering sustainability communities,” stated Martin Ehlers, general manager of Renaissance Bali Uluwatu and chairman of Marriott Business Council Indonesia.

Sadeva follows in the footsteps of Doa Ibu, the inaugural food truck launched in Jakarta on 15 October 2023. Both trucks share the mission of combating food waste and aiding communities, with Sadeva extending its reach to Nusa Dua and Jimbaran. Sadeva is realized with the proceeds from Marriott International Indonesia’s annual charity event, Road To Give 2023.

I Wayan Raksa, general manager of The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud Bali and co-chair of Marriott Business Council Bali, expressed his appreciation for the newly launched Bali-based food truck, stating, “We are thrilled to see our second food truck, ‘Sadeva,’ rolling into Bali to support this impactful initiative. Extending our reach to the communities of Nusa Dua and Jimbaran signifies our commitment to addressing local needs and making a positive difference in Bali. Through ‘Sadeva,’ we aim to not only provide nourishment but also to foster a sense of community and sustainability in the beautiful island of Bali.”

“SOS Indonesia is honoured to partner with Marriott Business Council Indonesia in our shared mission to create food equity and reduce food waste in Bali. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need,” said Bo Holmgreen, SOS founder and CEO, echoing the sentiments.
