Biku

Renowned for its antique 150-year Javanese teak wooden house in which it resides, Biku is an all-in-one restaurant, tea lounge, homewares and book store. It has plenty of cosy nooks and crannies for a lovely, private afternoon tea with family and friends, either inside in the atmospheric wooden house or outside on its breezy terrace. Biku’s signature high tea comes in two options, the traditional (Rp125,000++ per person) with the classic finger sandwich, quiche and scones or the Asian inspired high tea (Rp250,000++ for two persons) made of spring rolls, samosa, and agar-agar for more exotic offerings. Both are served on the loveliest bone china collection.

Biku also boasts a wide collection comprising of 50 different varieties of teas from the world’s various tea-growing regions. Be it a Darjeeling from the foothills of Himalayas or the White Tea from Fujian, Biku is committed to serving only the best. High tea is served daily from 11am to 6pm.

The intriguingly named Mad T-Party is a quirky treat that will send you scurrying down the stylish rabbit hole into W Hotel Bali, located in the trendy district of Seminyak. Picture a three-tiered hanging cage consisting of either sweet treats or savoury delights for your next afternoon tea. Those with a sweet-tooth will love the lemon tart, caramel pistachio ice cream sandwich and the chocolate dipped pretzels, among their other tempting offerings. The savoury cage is made of green chili empanadas, foie gras & pineapple parfait, beef tartare crostini with truffled egg, and much more to please even the pickiest Mad Hatter.

Both are paired with bespoke cocktails for an edgy high tea. Decadently pairing the world’s best chocolate with 22 different condiments, the Valrhona Chocolate Fountain Afternoon Tea is a high tea like never before. It is served in the comfort of Sundara’s air-conditioned lounge bar and presented with flair on a tailor made round, tiered tray.

A creation of the executive pastry chef Yusuke Aoki who often works with Valrhona chocolate, the individual fountain will lure you to dip fresh strawberries, chocolate chip cookies or other condiments into the rich 55% dark chocolate. For those feeling a little more adventurous, you can even dip a cheese grissini or some crispy calamari into it. Bookings are required 24 hours in advance and the delightful chocolate experience is yours for Rp375,000++ per person with a maximum of six persons per fountain.

Be it the Classic or the Indonesian High Tea, afternoon tea at The Bar in this iconic resort is an experience that won’t be easy to forget. Instead of rushing off to the beach or snapping Insta-worthy shots of their famous pool, the comfortable sofa and armchairs in the open-air lounge will invite you to linger and feel at home. Available daily from 3pm to 6pm, the Classic High Tea also offers a selection of warm scones and delicate sandwiches while the Indonesian High Tea is comprises of lapis legit, savoury chicken lemper and other popular snacks.

However, the best thing about this high tea is that it includes an unlimited access to The Café’s dessert room. The sweet wonderland is made of ice cream, cakes, choux pastries, chocolate fountains, dessert coupes, and even a crêperie station. Catching up with your nearest and dearest couldn’t get more fun. Art and afternoon tea collide in “Arte-Noon Tea,” the first of of St. Regis Bali Resort’s themed afternoon teas in their The Quintissential Afternoon Tea Series, that will run throughout 2018. From 10 May to 30 June, Arte-Noon Tea features 10 exclusive illustrations by emerging Indonesian artist Ida Bagus Gede Wiraga, where guests are invited to colour in the intricate designs, soothing the mind as they enjoy a luxurious afternoon tea in the opulent King Cole Bar. Priced at Rp350,000 per person, nibbles include freshly baked scones, Balinese delicacies and a fine selection of tea.
