MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2018 doled out its stars to several restaurants at an awards ceremony held at Resorts World Sentosa.

Singaporean chefs Jason Tan of Corner House and Malcolm Lee of Candlenut maintained their one-star ranking, while veteran chef Tetsuya Wakuda of Waku Ghin retained two Michelin stars. Likewise, recent winner of the no.28 spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, Julien Royer of Odette, also kept his two-star ranking.

First-time entrants to the list included Sushi Kimura, Ma Cuisine, Nouri, Jiang-Nan Chun and Burnt Ends, reflecting Singapore’s dynamic dining landscape.

The prestigious guide also paid homage to the culinary pioneers of Singapore, including the likes of Roland Restaurant and Guan Hoe Soon Restaurant, with a moment on stage, as well as creative takes on some of our iconic dishes. Emmanuel Stroobant of one Michelin-starred Saint Pierre presented Seabundance, his version of a yu sheng with New Harvest Oscietra Caviar, while Alvin Leung of three Michelin-starred Bo Innovation dazzled with his rendition of Ikan Buah Keluak.

The absence of three Michelin-starred Joël Robuchon due to its closure did not go unnoticed, leaving a question on everyone’s mind: who was going to take home the coveted three stars? Sadly, no one took over the mantle – at least for 2018.
